Impact & accountability

Accountability starts with honesty.

CHDF is an early-stage organisation. We are building the systems to listen, learn and report on change without overstating what is known.

The context we work in

What communities in Chitambo District are facing.

CHDF's programmes respond to challenges that communities and local stakeholders have identified first-hand.

Healthcare

Health facilities are unevenly distributed, with maternal, adolescent reproductive and mental health services particularly under-resourced.

Education

Insufficient facilities and low adult literacy limit access for children from vulnerable backgrounds and perpetuate cycles of poverty.

Economy

The local economy depends heavily on subsistence farming, which is increasingly strained by changing climate and limited market access.

Environment

Forests and natural resources are threatened by deforestation from charcoal production, unsustainable farming and illegal logging.

Social & cultural

Early marriage, gender-based violence and limited opportunities for youth engagement remain prevalent.
